Magazine is the third studio album by American rock band Heart. It was originally released on April 19, 1977, by Mushroom Records in unfinished form, without the band's permission. A second authorized version of the album was released on April 22, 1978.
Originally released in 1978 after the success of Dreamboat Annie and Little Queen, this gem collection of leftovers from the Dreamboat Annie sessions plus live recordings is a very satisfying listening experience and gives a different perspective of the band. One of my favorite song on this album is "Without You", which was originally a smash hit for Harry Nilsson back in 1971. This recording put emotion and passion into the song and really hits the ball out of the park. The title track has always been a favorite as well. The extended instrumental tag at the end of Magazine is what makes this song. It is hard for some bands to make a 6 minute song develop and go somewhere, not so with Magazine. I also like the rough rock sound of Devil Delight. Rock is Heart's specialty and definately comes across in Devil Delight. "Just The Wine" and "Here Song" displays the other side of Heart that they do ballads and love songs just as well. The radio hit was "Heartless" and was not really given the credit it deserves. "Mother Earth Blues" is a blues-rock number that gives you that feel of the late 60's, early 70's rock. Being a big fan of Led Zeppelin, they found it necessary to pay tribute by incorporating "You Shook Me" into the song. Last we get to "I've Got the Music in Me", which was a huge hit for the KikiDee Band in 1974. Heart's live version here has just as much energy as the original and makes a great finale for the album.

VG+ (Very Good+) A few visible imperfections. These may include sleeve scuffs, light scratches, or other superficial marks.

VG- (Very Good-) A number of visible imperfections; the presence of a considerable number of light scratches will force a VG- grade, as will the presence of significant isolated defects such as scratches deep enough to be felt with a fingernail.
G (Good) Record can be played without skipping, but will have significant surface noise, scratches, and visible groove wear. G+ and G- are used to indicate stronger and weaker copies within this range.
