INXS for the most part is an alternative rock band, but this album presents the group in hard rock mode rather than alternative rock mode. That is why so many people are confused about it's approach and may call it inferior to their previous efforts. Art is art and in a way can only be judged as something in a vacuum and not relative to other efforts... in a way. This is a hard rock album of INXS in that the sound is mostly the guitar sound with heavy drums in the background. As someone had stated before INXS had a layered sound previous to this album, but that is not what this album is about. It is more of a hard rock sound like Aerosmith or Van Halen which I think this LP and it's sound competes well with. Yes, there is only one "hit" really on this album which is "What You Need." But songs like "Listen Like Thieves," "Good and Bad Times," "Same Direction," and the instrumental "Three Sisters" are at the very least honorable mentions if not hits themselves. If you like hard rock with a lot of guitar sound, then maybe this album would be for you. This is about as hard rock in a successful way that this band ever got. They did have a heavy metal like album, but that was probably a failure both popularly and creatively. This INXS Album rocks!!! Five Stars.

NM (Near Mint) Appears unplayed and will bear no marks, sleeve scuffs, or scratches.
EX+ (Excellent) May have one or two visible imperfections (i.e. sleeve scuffs, faint scratches, or other superficial marks) that will not affect playback.
VG+ (Very Good+) A few visible imperfections. These may include sleeve scuffs, light scratches, or other superficial marks.
VG (Very Good) Similar imperfections found on VG+ records but in slightly greater numbers. Records graded VG and above will typically not have any scratches that are deep enough to be felt with a fingernail.
VG- (Very Good-) A number of visible imperfections; the presence of a considerable number of light scratches will force a VG- grade, as will the presence of significant isolated defects such as scratches deep enough to be felt with a fingernail.
G (Good) Record can be played without skipping, but will have significant surface noise, scratches, and visible groove wear. G+ and G- are used to indicate stronger and weaker copies within this range.
*SW/DNAP* Slight warp, does not affect playback
