Kingdom Come is the debut studio album by American rock band Sir Lord Baltimore, released on Mercury Records in 1970.
Sir Lord Baltimore was a trio from Brooklyn that left one big scorching mark on the early metal scene that was developing during the late 1960's and early 1970's. This band is often grouped in with many English bands of the era, like Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. While these bands reached a higher level in the industry than Sir Lord Baltimore, it must be said that the band from Brooklyn encompassed a sound so pure and raw that it simply will knock you over the first time you hear them.
With the help of the internet and die-hard metal fans; bands like Sir Lord Baltimore and Blue Cheer are finally getting the respect they deserve.
The lyrics alone are just incredible, and when you think that the drummer is also the lead singer it's all the more mind-numbing. The guitar and bass work are intense, and when put all together, is like being caught in a heavy metal thunderstorm.
The song "Lake Isle of Innersfree" deserves special note, I feel, as possibly the earliest heavy metal ballad. The harpsicord work is incredibly beautiful.
Ultimately, no metal archivist should go without this collection. This is a must-have for anyone exploring metal's early days and deserves proper respect among even todays metal fans. These guys have a sound like no one else on the planet, then or now. I highly recommend this album to all metal fans!
