The Police’s Greatest Hits album will be reissued on vinyl on April 15, to mark the 30th anniversary of its original release in 1992. It’s been remastered at Abbey Road and cut at half speed to ensure the ultimate sound quality, and will be available as two heavyweight black LPs with expanded artwork and packaging in a bespoke gatefold sleeve, enhancing the original artwork.
The compilation was a multi-platinum success around the world on first release, which was largely on CD. It was given a limited vinyl version at the time that has long been out of print, making the vinyl edition hugely sought-after by Police fans. Greatest Hits is a perfect retrospective of the chart-topping trio’s storied achievements on record, for new admirers, longtime devotees, and vinyl collectors.
The definitive collection features 16 tracks, of which no fewer than 14 were UK Top 20 hits and five were No.1s, “Message In A Bottle,” “Walking On The Moon,” “Don’t Stand So Close To Me,” “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic,” and “Every Breath You Take.”
The Police’s worldwide record sales stand at over 75 million worldwide. The trio of Sting, Stewart Copeland, and Andy Summers also won two BRIT Awards, six Grammys and an MTV Video Music Award; in 2003, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their track record is all the more remarkable for the fact that The Police only recorded five studio albums, all but one of which made Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

*SEALED* Jacket still sealed in shrink original wrap; disc sold ungraded or "as is."
NM (Near Mint) Appears unplayed and will bear no marks, sleeve scuffs, or scratches.
EX+ (Excellent) May have one or two visible imperfections (i.e. sleeve scuffs, faint scratches, or other superficial marks) that will not affect playback.
VG+ (Very Good+) A few visible imperfections. These may include sleeve scuffs, light scratches, or other superficial marks.
VG (Very Good) Similar imperfections found on VG+ records but in slightly greater numbers. Records graded VG and above will typically not have any scratches that are deep enough to be felt with a fingernail.
VG- (Very Good-) A number of visible imperfections; the presence of a considerable number of light scratches will force a VG- grade, as will the presence of significant isolated defects such as scratches deep enough to be felt with a fingernail.
G (Good) Record can be played without skipping, but will have significant surface noise, scratches, and visible groove wear. G+ and G- are used to indicate stronger and weaker copies within this range.
*SW/DNAP* Slight warp, does not affect playback
*QUAD* Quadraphonic Sound, similar to today’s surround sound
